For this week’s blog I’m focusing on a very specific, niche form of nostalgia: 2014 tumblr. As a kid who probably got on the internet way too young, 2014 tumblr is something that feels like it happened yesterday while also having a hazy texture that most memories collect as time passes. It was simple in that I was just observing it, not actually living it. I remember seeing my cousin live this, who was 18 at the time and the embodiment of grungy tumblr girl, and thinking she was the coolest. Although I wasn’t directly living this life, it definitely had an impact on how my style and self expression evolved from there, and this was something I didn’t realize until recently.
